Moonlin's Wish

Moonlin's Wish

Once upon a time it was a girl from the north who was curious about life. Her name was Moonlin. She danced along the fields and forests on a mission of exploration and learning. What was life? And what made some things come alive, and others not? Or was everything alive?

To find out, she went to the city, going on excursions through palaces and museums. She even visited the King's home. It was here she discovered the Fine Arts. Inspired by what she found, she even started to take classic piano lessons.

It was tricky, to say the least. Now her piano teacher told her to make the music come alive.. But how can non-physical things like music come alive? Again and again, she tried... until something finally happened. The themes of the music she played began to manifest itself in the real world. Or so it seemed.

Intrigued by what she had seen, she continued her journey.  She had taken the first step towards a bigger reality, and she was eager to take another one. She traveled across the cultural hotspots of Europe, from Stockhom to Copenhagen, Amsterdam and finally Vienna.

And in each place, she learned a little more. But now, the art itself was her teacher. It was as if all the music, statues, paintings and other works she encountered woke up and helped her on the way. Somehow, they magically came alive. Or so it seemed.

After a visit to Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna, the location of the famous New Year concerts, all the pieces came together. As twilight fell, Moonlin had a mystical experience which was truly out of this world. Literally everything came alive! The whole universe was ringing with joy as she were dancing through the night.

When the morning came, Moonlin had reached the end of her journey. She had been successful. She had made the music come alive. She had made everything come alive! Or so it seemed. And she was at peace.

As with Cosmosaga, which was filmed parallel with this film, Moonlin's Wish took three years to complete. And this film is partially self-experienced as well, as the real "Moonlin" actually did take classic piano lessons from a real teacher during these years. (Although she was way ahead of the girl she portrayed in the movie.)

As with most Starlife stories, Moonlins Wish elegantly blends the esthetical with the mystical. But unlike Cosmosaga, this film has a positive outlook of our relationship with the world - and in particular the Arts - which makes it a "feelgood" movie for the whole family.
